Shopping
The country´s many markets are the places to go for handicrafts, cotton, alpaca or vicuna textiles, silverware and other typical artifacts. Souvenirs can also be found in shopping centers and airports. Shopping malls are well worth visiting. You can haggle with market stall holders and street vendors. Remember that Peru´s national heritage must be respected and it is illegal to trade such items or animals on endangered list.
Typical shopping hours are 10.00 – 13.00 and 16.00 – 20.00 Monday to Saturday. The local currency is New Sol. US Dollars can be exchanged in banks, hotels and many shops accept US Dollars. All major credit cards are accepted in Lima and tourist areas.
