The New Guinea Explorer
The New Guinea Explorer takes a visitor to a journey through the country: to the massive Central Ranges with its ancient cultures and exotic animals, to Wahgi Valley, where the extraordinary Melpa people live, to the wonders of Sepik River and its tributaries, to meet Huli warriors.
Day 1. Upon arrival to Port Moresby transfe to connecting flight
to Mount Hagen in the upper Wahgi Valley, where some of the oldest
evidence of agriculture in the world have been found.
Overnight at Rondon Ridge Lodge on Mount Kuta with unbelievable views over to the Valley.
Day 2. and day 3.
The Mount Hagen and Wahgi Valley areas are the home of the Melpa
people, whose daily life is strongly based on their traditional culture
and subsistence.
Day 4.
Flying from Mount Hagen to the Sepik, landscape changes from mountains
to lowland, the dense tropical rainforest as fas as the eyes can see.
The air-conditioned river boat MV Sepik Spirit designed like "haus
tambaran", spirit house, allows to travel comfortably to rarely visited
areas along the river and its tributaries.

Day 5. and day 6.
The days are spent exploring the many waterways of the river by
visiting several local villages and tribes, which have been fascinated
by many anthropoligists since the area was first visited not long ago.
Sepik people are famous for their lifestyle and amazing wood carvings.
Day 7.
The Karawari river is surrounded by the hundreds of kilometres of dense
tropical jungle and the Lodge on a river's ridge is designed by a local
architecture and built with traditional materials.

Day 8.
Leaving by charter aircraft to the Central Ranges, rugged and
impressive landscape, to the home of Huli. It is colourful and pround
tribe, which is still living their life in the Tari Valley the way
their ancestors did.
The area of Ambua is surrounded by the high mountain forests and roaring waterfalls.
Overnight Ambua Lodge.
Day 9.
Full day of cultural and ecological touring in Tari, which is also home to incredible 13 species of birds of paradise.
Day 10.
The day of departure from Papua New Guinea with a lot of unforgettable memories.
