Windhoek offers a wide selection of fashionable shops. Local crafts, such as wood carvings, karosse rugs and Herero dolls can be bought in specialized shops. Windhoek Street Market, which is held every second Saturday, also offers local crafts and traditional items. Other good purchases are diamonds and semi-precious stones, leather shoes, liqueur chocolates and Swakara garments made from local wool.
