Climate

Namibia has an average of 300 sunny days a year. The cold Benguela current keeps the coastal regions cool, foggy and free of rain for most of the year. Rain only occurs from November to February mostly as heavy thunderstorms. The interior, however, has two rainy seasons: October to December and mid-January to April.

In summer (October-April) temperatures are high while the altitude means that nights are cool. Average interior temperatures range from + 20°C  to + 34°C during the day and can reach + 40°C especially in north and south of the country. Winters (May-September) are generally warm and pleasant in the interior, but  freezing temperature and frost in ground is common at night. The best time for visiting the Namibian desert is from May to September when temperatures are cooler, although the nights can get cold.
