It is possible to buy a large variety of products and handicrafts in all kind of stores. In the bigger cities it is typical to find big shopping malls, but it is also possible to find smaller and more specialized stores and artisan markets. Typical purchases in Chile include textiles such as handwoven ponchos, vicuna rugs, alpaca jumpers and copper and silver work.
Typical shopping hours are 10.00 - 20.00 Monday to Friday and 10.00 - 14.00 on Saturdays. The local currency is Chilean Peso. Major credit cards are widely accepted in towns and cities. Outside of the larger towns, currency exchange can be tricky.
