As the only expedition cruise line in Patagonia, offers weekly visits to the fjords of the island of Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn and surrounding archipelagos. Discover the South American continent's most pristine and magical regions aboard these new small expedition cruise ships, the M/V Mare and Via Australis, around the island of Tierra del Fuego, through the legendary Strait of Magellan, Beagle Channel and Cape Horn.There are two weekly all inclusive cruise options from each of our ports of departure: Punta Arenas, Chile and Ushuaia, Argentina. The 2008 season, ending in April 2009, the 4-night cruises from Punta Arenas depart on Saturdays and Wednesdays and arrive in Ushuaia Wednesdays and Sundays, respectively. The 3-night cruises from Ushuaia embark on Wednesdays and Sundays and arrive in Punta Arenas on Saturdays and Wednesdays, respectively (subject to change). Next season, September 2008 - April 2009, the 4-night cruises from Punta Arenas will depart on Saturdays and Tuesdays and the 3-night cruises from Ushuaia will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The daily expeditions in Zodiacs, motorized rafts, take passengers to some of the most remote and untouched wilderness in the world, allowing them to see penguins and other wildlife colonies, the region's most breathtaking glaciers, and Cape Horn. The expedition leaders will complement the naturalist educational experience with daily lectures on topics ranging from glaciology and regional flora/fauna to the cultural history of Southern Patagonia.
