Jumping over Cape Horn and the stormy waters of the Drake Passage, ANTARCTICA XXI invites to a unique experience to one of the most remote places on earth, the coldest, windiest, driest, least inhabited continent - Antarctica.
At one and half hour of flying from Punta Arenas to King George Island, the largest Island of the South Shetland Archipelago, are the gates of the Antarctica.
From King George Island navigate along the Antarctic Peninsula, visiting the most wonderful places and enjoying the wildlife sites. The adventure will be very active, several daily landings and cruises in well suited Zodiac boats, lectures and a very enjoyable time on board.
The vessel Grigory Mikheev was built in 1990 in Finland as an oceanographic research vessel and belongs to the Hydrometeorological Institute of St. Petersburg, Russia. With a displacement of 2,000 tons, its hull is made in steel and is ice strengthened. It measures 66 m long and 12,8 m wide, and is equipped with two engines that allow a speed of up to 12 knots. The Vessel has a capacity of 45 passengers in cabins over the main deck. In addition to a dining room, lounge/bar/library, it has an infirmary and sauna.
